Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is a stealth action video game developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and published by Konami for PlayStation 2 in 2001. It is a sequel to Metal Gear Solid (1998). and is the ninth installment in the Metal Gear series. The game was designed by Hideo Kojima, who also directed the first game.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is set in 2007, three years after the events of the first game. Players control Solid Snake, a former US Navy SEAL, as he is tasked with infiltrating an autonomous weapons ship called the Arsenal Gear to stop a terrorist plot.
The game was praised for its engaging storyline, well-developed characters, and advanced graphics. It is also considered one of the best video games of all time.
The Nintendo Switch version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was released in October 2023. It was developed by Virtuos and has improved graphics to match the Switch’s OLED screen.
