The game is set in Akihabara, a famous electronic neighborhood in Tokyo, Japan. Players take on the role of a character named Akihiko Nishikido, a young man who has just moved to Akihabara. During a walk, Akihiko accidentally encounters a group of strangers who are threatening a girl. Akihiko helped the girl and later discovered that the strangers were vampire-like creatures. These creatures are called Synthetizers and they have the ability to suck the life energy from humans.
The goal of the game is to help Akihiko and his friends destroy the Synthetizers and protect Akihabara from their invasion. Players can use a variety of weapons and abilities to battle Synthetizers. In addition, players can also explore Akihabara and meet the locals.
