Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi is a story-driven role-playing video game developed and published by Idea Factory. The game was first released in 2010 for the PlayStation Portable, and was later ported to many other platforms, including Nintendo 3DS.
The game is set in Japan during the Bakumatsu period, when the country was in a period of chaos. Players will take on the role of Chizuru Yukimura, a young girl who has lost her memory and is saved by a group of Shinsengumi samurai. She is forced to join the group and fight with them against hostile forces.
The game has four main characters, each character will tell the love story between Chizuru and one of the four Shinsengumi samurai. These character routes are:
Hijikata Toshizo: Leader of the Shinsengumi.
Saito Hajime: A cold and mysterious samurai.
Okita Souji: A young and talented samurai.
Kazama Chikage: A mysterious and seductive samurai.
Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi is highly appreciated for its engaging plot, well-built characters and beautiful graphics. The game has sold more than 1.5 million copies worldwide.
