True Crime: Streets of LA is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Luxoflux and published by Activision for GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox in November 2003, for Microsoft Windows in May 2003. 2004, and by Aspyr for Mac OS X in March 2005. A mobile phone adaptation was released in November 2004.
The game tells the story of Nicholas Kang, an uncompromising Los Angeles police officer who is recruited into the Special Operations Division to investigate a series of bombings in Chinatown. As he delves deeper into the case, he discovers it may be related to the disappearance of his father, a police officer, twenty years ago.
The game features a 240 square mile (622 km2) recreation of a large portion of Los Angeles, including most of Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, with most street names, landmarks, and highways accurately recreated.
Plot: The game begins with Nicholas Kang investigating a murder in Chinatown. As he approaches the crime scene, he is caught by a time bomb. He escaped the blast, but the blast destroyed evidence and injured him.
Kang is taken to the hospital, where he is met by the head of the Special Operations Division, Jack Fletcher. Fletcher convinces Kang to join his department to help investigate the bombing.
Kang begins investigating the bombing and quickly discovers that it is linked to an organized crime syndicate. He also discovers that his father, a police officer, was murdered by this organization twenty years ago.
Kang continues his investigation and eventually confronts the leader of the criminal organization. He defeats the leader and stops a terrorist attack.
